Knowledge, Activities and Interest in Reproductive Health Supplies by NGOs in Asia and the Pacific

Secure and sustained access to quality and affordable supplies of reproductive health commodities is a critical driver of all health outcomes, not just reproductive and sexual health. Without access to these commodities, the success of efforts to respond to the urgent reproductive and sexual health needs outlined in the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) in Cairo and the ICPD + 5 review, as well wider efforts to scale up health services in order to achieve the Millennium Development Goals, will not be successful.

During 2006, PAI commissioned the Asia Pacific Alliance (APA) to conduct a survey of sexual and reproductive health organizations in the region to identify their work on reproductive health (RH) supplies. The purpose of the report was to provide a general assessment of the efforts and activities of Asian/Pacific organisations to secure reproductive health commodities in their respective countries. This report synthesises the main findings from thatassessment and draws basic conclusions and recommendations from those findings.
