Achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)

In September 2000, world leaders adopted the Millennium Declaration, committing all countries to achieving eight

bold development-related goals. These goals, known as the MDGs, encompass reducing poverty and hunger, and

tackling ill-health, maternal mortality, gender inequality, lack of education, lack of access to clean water and environmental

degradation. For many countries and donors, the MDGs are now integral to national development strategies. APA

advocates for addressing SRHR challenges as an essential prerequisite to achieving the eight MDGs.
