Transforming our world: Agenda 2030 for sustainable development is a bold and transformative agenda with 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs) and 169 targets that pledge “to leave no one behind”. APA focuses on goals and targets linked to sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and gender equality, and on the means of implementation required to achieve the Agenda.
Goal 3: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages
Target 3.7: By 2030, ensure universal access to sexual and reproductive health-care services, including for family planning, information and education, and the integration of reproductive health into national strategy and programmes
Goal 5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls
Target 5.6: Ensure universal access to sexual and reproductive health and reproductive rights as agreed in accordance with the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development and the Beijing Platform for Action and the outcome documents of their review conferences
APA believes that for the Sustainable Development Goals to be realised, a robust human rights-based accountability framework is essential to ensure inclusive progress. APA is committed to contributing to the development and strengthening of accountability mechanisms and systems that embody the human rights principles of universality, participation, accountability and non-discrimination at all levels of the implementation of Agenda 2030.
