The Role of Reproductive Health and Reproductive Health Supplies in Strengthening Health Systems

This report looks at the importance of reproductive health and reproductive health supplies within basic health care and health system strengthening and presents recommendations on how to ensure that they are included in the implementation of national health policies and health system strengthening.

It examines the role of European donors in supporting reproductive health and supplies in support to health system strengthening, not only through bilateral aid (eg budget support) but also contributions to global health initiatives such as The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization, UNITAID and the International Financing Facility for Immunisation.

The report also considers donor coordinating mechanisms such as the International Health Partnership and Related Initiatives and the EU Code of Conduct on the Division of Labour, which were developed in response to the Paris Declaration and the Accra Agenda for Action on Aid Effectiveness.
