Asia Pacific Network of Sex Workers (APNSW) together with the UN and other developmental agencies share their paper/position on four key areas of sex workers’ rights that must be addressed: migration and mobility, enabling environment, sexual and reproductive health and rights and gender based violence. These papers have been critical input in the organization of the first Asia and the Pacific Regional Consultation on HIV and Sex Work which will take place on 12-15 Oct 2010 in Pattaya, Thailand.

Factoring People Into Climate Change

It's a sure bet that women won't be high on the agenda, or even listed on the program, when UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon convenes a climate change summit of world leaders on September 22. Women are also likely to be missing at the make-or-break emissions reduction conference in Copenhagen in December.

A new study has determined that climate change could deepen poverty in developing countries. In the study, a team led by Purdue University researchers examined the potential economic influence of adverse climate events, such as heat waves, drought and heavy rains, on those in 16 developing countries.
