The Forging Gender-Just Futures through the Beijing Platform for Action Report is the regional Civil Society Consultations Report that captures the insights and strategies shared by civil society actors across the region in pursuit of gender equality. As a member of the Beijing +30 Asia-Pacific Civil Society Steering Committee (SC), APA helped develop the report, emphasizing Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) as a key driver in advancing the gender equality agendas outlined in the Beijing Platform for Action.
What’s Inside the Report?
The report encapsulates key discussions from the four regional virtual thematic consultations that took place from August to September 2024. The consultations addressed the key thematic areas of:
- Advancing Gender-Affirmative Economic Justice, Rights, Decent Work, and Social Protection
- Boosting Women’s Leadership, Representation, and Political Participation
- Ending Discrimination, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence against Women and Girls in their Diversities
- Future-Forward Strategies for Gender Equity
With contributions from 503 participants representing 13 constituencies across 32 countries, the consultations brought to light both ongoing and emerging issues impacting the rights of women and girls across their diversities.
Purpose and Impact
The report assesses progress from 2020 to 2025 on implementing the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (BPfA) and the Beijing +5 Political Declaration and Outcome (B+5). The CSO Report aims to shape the political declaration to be developed at the upcoming Beijing +30 Ministerial Conference in Bangkok, scheduled for November 19–21, 2024.
