In a new endeavour for APA, a short course on feminist leadership was organized for the network in 2020. 14 members participated in the course, which consisted of 3 online sessions focusing on building feminist leadership and organizational capacity of members.
I really look forward to similar learning and interacting opportunities. There is a lot that I learnt and reflected on through the workshop and I have already shared some of the learning, reflections and insights with the senior management to take discussions forward to become a more inclusive organisation
The course aimed to provide space for discussion, reflection and practical skills building, through:
- Building awareness of feminist values and concepts
- Deepening the understanding how to apply an intersectional and feminist way of working in their own organizations
- Increasing ability to manage people and challenging situations
- Strengthening the network through solidarity and shared learning experience
Participants explored feminist ways of leading, the role of power, values, and principles in organisations and how to ensure their organizations are safe spaces, and utilized a self-assessment tool to audit their own projects and programmes on the application of feminist principles and practice.
